Still More Limericks

The "Kiss of Peace" under the mistletoe
And holy's changed to holly
And Christmas has neither
Christ nor Mass
But we are very jolly.
This is a poem about Miss Apprehension
Who led a life of constant tension
Sometimes she'd reason
and sometimes she'd balk
But whatever she did took the form of talk.
This is a poem about modern friends
Whose business is to make amends,
For abandoning God they abandoned wit,
So now each one's dignity is infinite.
This is a poem about my relations
Who live without faith and await tribulations
Oh would that they might be inclined
To see that they, not God's unkind.
This is a poem about religious habits
Which are pretty hard to break
Because they're so equivocal
You don't know which sense to take.
